Out of these transactions, 28.5 millions or 10.48% is paid by credit cards, an increase of 25.55% or 5.8 millions compares to 22.7 millions in 2016; despite the 2.44% decrease in the number of credit cards in 2017. 239.3 millions are paid by debit cards, a significant increase of 39.9 millions or 20.01% compares to 199.4 millions in 2016, in accordance to the increase in the number of debit cards in 2017. Cards with a delayed debit function accounted for 4.1 millions transaction. Latvia total card payment transactions volume contributes 0.4% to the EU total number of transactions.

The total card payments for 2017 is €5.0 billions in value(€2.63 thousands per capita), an increase of €0.4 billions or 8.70% compares to €4.6 billions in 2016. This also translates into €18.4 per card payment transaction, a small decrease compares to €18.9 in 2016. Out of these transactions, €1.0 billions or 20.00% is paid by credit cards, an increase of €0.2 billions or 25.00% compares to €0.8 billions in 2016. The total card payments for 2012 is €2.75 billions in value(€1.35 thousands per capita), an increase of €0.41 billions or 17.52% compares to €2.34 billions in 2011. This also translates into €21.5 per card payment transaction, an increase compares to €20.5 in 2011. Out of these transactions, €0.44 billions or 16.00% is paid by credit cards, an increase of €0.01 billions or 2.33% compares to €0.43 billions in 2011. The total card payments for 2011 is €2.34 billions in value(€1.14 thousands per capita), an increase of €0.37 billions or 18.78% compares to €1.97 billions in 2010. This also translates into €20.5 per card payment transaction, an increase compares to €19.4 in 2010. Out of these transactions, €0.43 billions or 18.38% is paid by credit cards, the same value as in 2010. The total card payments for 2009 is €1.94 billions in value(€0.86 thousands per capita), a decrease of €0.50 billions or 20.49% compares to €2.44 billions in 2008. This also translates into €19.8 per card payment transaction, a smaller amount compares to €25.6 in 2008. Out of these transactions, €0.44 billions or 22.68% is paid by credit cards, a significant decrease of 33.33% or €0.22 billions compares to €0.66 billions in 2008. This is influence by the drop in credit card transactions volume as well as the number of credit cards. The total card payments for 2008 is €2.44 billions in value(€1.08 thousands per capita), an increase of €0.43 billions or 21.39% compares to €2.01 billions in 2007, which is in accordance to the increase in transactions volume. This also translates into €25.6 per card payment transaction, a smaller amount compares to €26.3 in 2007. Out of these transactions, €0.66 billions or 27.05% is paid by credit cards, a significant increase of 60.98% or €0.25 billions compares to €0.41 billions in 2007. This is influence by the significant growth in credit card transactions volume. Meanwhile, €1.61 billions in value is paid by debit cards, an increase of €0.15 billions or 10.27% compares to €1.46 billions in 2007.
